At last! The day I have been waiting for! After waking up at 5.15am last Sunday with, among other symptoms, a new and continuous cough I was very confident that within five days or so I’d be free from Covid-19. That second red line has become more and more faint, to the extent that yesterday, it required the assistance of a torch to see it. Not so today. The red line is back. And if this test is correct, I am still infectious.
I’m a bit surprised to be honest. Anecdotally at least, people seem to be testing positive until around days five and six, but here I am testing positive on day eight. Knowing nothing about how this virus works, I am into the world of conspiracies. What if I have been infected again? What if I am that one person who is never going to be able to shake off the virus? Could I be stuck at home for evermore, banned from leaving my home for fear of infecting people over and over again? Most likely outcome? I’ve been a bit unlucky.
This means I will not be allowed to leave home until at least Tuesday, which will be the tenth day. It could be that I am immunocompromised or I’ve had a severe case, which didn’t feel at all severe, possibly because of vaccines. Who knows? All I do know is that I will be in my Man Cave for at least two more days.
Sainsburys can wait.
