My loyal reader may recall that I am a serious Beach Boys fan. I saw the near enough original line-up at Wembley Stadium in 1975, the Mike Love touring version once and Brian Wilson and his band on numerous occasions. They’re best remembered for their songs about surfing and cars. That’s all well and good but when the encore approaches, I’m almost inclined to leave early in order to avoid Surfin USA, Help Me Rhonda and Fun, Fun, Fun. Those tunes don’t do it for me, but plenty of others do. So, I thought, as I have lots of time on my hands today, maybe too much, why not copy out my iTunes playlist for you, dear reader, to click on and listen to at your leisure?
Plenty of obscure ones here and of course they are my favourites! The opening song All This Is That is consistently my favourite song, but it can change with number four, which I had played at my mum’s funeral.
God Only Knows is obviously there but almost all the hits, which of course I love, didn’t make it onto my playlist, including almost all of Pet Sounds and Good Vibrations.
Anyway, I hope you dip in and click on a few great tunes and rarities. There’s much more to the Beach Boys than surfing and cars!
