The village crashed out of the 20/20 competition last Wednesday with a thoroughly dismal performance at Barrow Gurney. Your humble correspondent arrived with the Gifford staggering along at a shocking 14-4, a score that got even worse within a minute. Matt Semple’s golden spell with the bat ended with a miserable duck and his main contribution was to operate the scoreboard. Stubbs got next to bugger all and foulmouthed gobshite Bowers junior stumbled to a scratchy 10. It was left to Five Bellies Dunt to hold the innings together as the village ended on 79. The home side’s opening bowler took 5-4 and she deserved great credit. The result was never in doubt given the paucity of Gifford’s attack. They were reduced to bringing on Mr Angry Lewis Daniels who started by bowling an over which included six wides and two wickets.
