The Friday Shuffle 11/12

by Rick Johansen

Yes, it’s that time when my loyal reader logs off from the internet because it’s my Friday morning iPod shuffle.

Ready, Steady…

1. Fasten Your Seatbelts by Pendulum. Bit of Dance Rock for a damp Friday, all the way from…er…Brixton!

2. Checking Out by the Polyphonic Spree. Their Fragile Army record is as beautiful as choral rock gets. Check it out.

3. Best Friend by the Beat. I didn’t much care for the musical 80s but I did love dave Wakelin more than most.

4. I Surrender by Crosby and Nash. Beautiful. Beautiful. Find it on t’internet and tell me it isn’t (I won’t believe you).

5. Mad by Todd Rundgren. Arena was a rocking return to form and this is a metal delight. Turn it up loud.

6. Take A Chance On Love by Joe Vitale. Impeccable musicianship, some beautiful tunes and the harmonies of angels. No self-respecting music fan should not have a copy of Vitale’s Roller Coaster Weekend.

7. Never Wake Up by Sum 41. Proving that the album All Killer No Filler wasn’t quite accurate in name.

8. Astronomy Domine by Pink Floyd. More See Emily Play than Shine On You Crazy Diamond.

9. Losing My Religion by REM. Live and much better than the single version, probably because I’ve it too much. The crowd singalong doesn’t help, but it’s harder, edgier.

10. Mated by Utopia. Of course, it’s Todd again. I’m in a better mood now.
