That Friday Music Shuffle (3/8/18)

At last it’s nearly the weekend and I can disappear to my Man Cave to play some random music on my now obsolete iPod

So, welcome my friends to the show that never ends!

1. “The Gloaming (Softly Open our Mouths in the Cold)” By Radiohead. From the excellent Hail to the Thief long player.

2. “Cry” by Godley and Creme. Half of the wonderfully talented 10cc. Have you seen the video for this? It was groundbreaking at the time.

3. Do It Again by Deodato. A half decent Steely Dan cover by the Brazilian keyboardist from his second album which was called Deodato 2. His big hit was the jazzed up Also Sprach Zarathustra.

4. My World by the Bee Gees. “My world is our world and this world is your world and your world is my world and my world is your world is mine,” sing the brothers Gibb. They don’t write them like that anymore (thankfully).

5. Take A Chance On Love by Joe Vitale. Joe’s album Roller Coaster Weekend is one of my very favourite records of all time. This is just beautiful.

6. Atlantic City by Bruce Springsteen. Red raw Springsteen. Simply magnificent.

7. Spanish Dancer by Joe Walsh. From his last record, the old boy still has it.

8. Colorado Song by the Ozark Mountain Daredevils. Lush 1970s country rock.

9. It’s A Feeling by Toto. From their 35th anniversary live gig in Poland. Love or hate them, you cannot deny these guys are among the greatest musicians who ever lived.

10. Harbinger by Mike Oldfield. The Tubular Bells chap with a piece from Music from the Spheres, which of course sounds more than a bit like Tubular Bells.

That’s all, folks.
