I would now like to unveil my strategy to address what should be done to halt the march of the murderous IS group in Iraq and Syria: I do not have a clue.
I suspect that most of our politicians from all parties don’t have a clue either but David Cameron said tonight,” we should not turn away from what needs to be done” which means bombing Iraq. And what’s more, he’s got a lot of muslim countries onside – well, the sunni ones anyway – so that’s all right then.
It looks like the Labour Party is onside too and obviously the Tory poodles in the LibDems will be so we know that when parliament is recalled later this week, we will be part of a grand coalition to bomb IS. So war will be declared now that the puppet Iraqi Prime Minister has asked us to join in the mayhem.
I have no answers nor solutions. I certainly have nothing better than what Cameron is offering us, unless you regard the act of doing nothing to be worse. Obama was elected in America on the back of promises to get the hell out of the middle east but now he is about to plunge his successor into yet another endless war for which no exit strategy has been planned.
‘We’ will blow up countless ‘militants’, destroying the odd children’s hospital and orphanage along the way, and be told to rejoice because the enemy is on the run. Then it will go on. And on. And on.
The mission to bomb Iraq, we will be told, is to protect Iraq and to protect us because of the direct threat these people cause. They must be destroyed or else they will destroy us.
These wars are coming in an endless loop. Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya – all ‘freed’ by the west, but each now in far worse shape after the west got involved at a huge cost of life and money. How are we to know that this will be any different? Using aircraft is an attractive option because the attacks are from on high and fewer brave servicemen and women will be seen returning home in body bags.
The coalition will be at war against the Hydra. Every time we cut off its head, it will grow two more. We can deplete IS, devastate it but it will still keep coming back.
Our politicians will vote for war without end, a high altitude Vietnam, costing untold billions for no obvious return, whilst new islamists are recruited by the thousand to fight the enemy.
I do not have an alternative to the strategy, such as it is, of bombing our way to peace in Iraq but I do believe it is utterly doomed from the outset.
As we have said before, the genie is well and truly out of the bottle and I see no solution to the growing chaos in the middle east.
The impending decision by our leaders will occupy our hearts and minds for decades to come and I feel the march to war is a terrible mistake.

Concur with your synopsis. As the west should be learning, if you take out one faction another pops up somewhere else in the world. Yes it is true that to do nothing will only embolden them and bring more and more such groups to the frontlines as they strive to bring 7th century zealotry with 21st century weaponry to the masses. Osama Bin Laden and Kaddafi were both quoted saying “Islam will rule the world, yet it won’t be accomplished by fighting with the west, Muslims will spread out to these countries and grow to become Islamic States.” As we can see in most of Europe that prophecy is coming true at an alarming rate. In the UK and the USA, though at a somewhat lesser rate, the spread of Muslims within the boarders started as a humanitarian cause yet has somehow morphed into Muslims demanding their own laws and reverting back to the way of life they claimed to be trying to escape from in the first place. Yet, while demanding the host nation make concessions to appease them, they also demand more and more welfare services be poured upon them to satisfy their needs. Many of the indigenous people in these communities suffer threats and continued harassment by our Muslim guests as they attempt to take over the street, the village, the town where they live and to drive the locals out. Our elected officials and those tasked with upholding the laws of the land appear spellbound and stand by as lawlessness abounds in these communities. The government continues to open the doors for an even greater influx of Muslims who cry out their need for sanctuary only to become parasites on the host nation. What will happen once they have bled the host dry and have destroyed the nation from within? Will we then become just another Islamic wasteland? Tough decisions have to be made which will require taking back the countries that we love and care for. Lets no fool ourselves into thinking this will be easy with tough decisions comes even tougher acts to rid this parasite from the host. Everyone will have to set aside their moral judgment and personal convictions to accomplish this and ALL will have blood on our hands.
