Afternoon everyone and welcome to the main non-event that everyone isn’t waiting for. Yes, it’s my Good Friday music shuffle, when my musical device plays ten tunes at random from my collection of…er…top quality music. Then, I tell you what they are.
So, without further ado. Let’s rock!
Time Waits For No One by Ambrosia. Lush OTT prog/yacht rock from the rice pudding soundalikes from the Southern Californian outfit.
Horses Through A Rainstorm by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Little known tune from 1969, written by Graham Nash and Terry Reid, who might have been Led Zeppelin’s lead singer, had Robert Plant not shown up.
Framed by the Sensational Alex Harvey Band. Classic bluesy Alex from the album of the same name.
West Of Hollywood by Steely Dan. Probably the last truly great Steely Dan song, from their eighth album Two Against Nature. Magnificent drumbeat from ex Earth, Wind and Fire sticks man Sonny Emory.
Criticise by Alexander O’Neill. Old school soul from…gulp…1987. Great tune.
Dark Side of the Gym by the National. Excellent tune from their 2017 LP Sleep Well Beast.
Ring Ring by Chris Rainbow. From the late, great Rainbow’s White Trails album, he was a one man Scottish Beach Boy and suffered from a terrible stammer – until he started singing. One of the most underrated geniuses of music IMHO.
Mami Te Extraño by Los Amigos Invisibles. From their classic 2000 album Arepa 3000: A Venezuelan Journey Into Space. You need this album.
Bad Child by Randy Bachman feat. Joe Bonamassa. From the former BTO man’s 2015 comeback record Heavy Blues, arguably one of the best records of his career.
In A Little While by (N.O.W. remix) by U2. Café del Mar chill out music from the Irish rockers.
