Greetings pop-pickers and welcome to the Friday Music Shuffle.
As ever, my music device selects ten random tunes from my collection and I tell you what it has chosen. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to click on the song title and sing along.
I hope you find something you like.
- There’s Water Here by Delays. 2004’s Faded Seaside Glamour showcased the brilliance of singer/writer Greg Gilbert who died tragically of cancer in 2021, aged just 44. I adore this band and so you should you.
- Send Her My Love by Journey. Overblown as ever with Journey, nonetheless it’s still rather lovely. From 1983.
- For Whom The Bell Tolls by The Bee Gees. Absolutely fantastic, from their 1993 long player Size Isn’t Everything.
- Long Train Runnin’ (Live) by the Doobie Brothers. Always a great live act, this from 2004’s Live At Wolf Trap record.
- Person To Person by Average White Band. Without doubt, the greatest white soul band of them all. This from 1974’s AWB.
- Eulogy For A Rock Band by Weezer. Undeniably and very obviously Weezer, from their 2014 album Everything Will Be Alright In The End. Not a classic but decent.
- Explore by Curtis Harding. Harding is an excellent soul singer and songwriter. His 2021 LP, If Words Were Flowers from this track comes is very, very good.
- Crumbling Empire by Sam Fender. Fender’s 2025 album People Watching is a truly great album by a stellar talent. Long may he run.
- Faster by Manic Street Preachers. A banger from their classic 1994 album The Holy Bible.
- To The Wire by Gaz Coombs. I much prefer Gaz’s solo work to anything he did with Supergrass, although I do understand the financial need to tour the old stuff. This from 2014’s Matador is great.
This week’s Desert Island Disc is There’s Water Here by Delays. Buy Faded Seaside Glamour today. It’s one of the greatest albums by anyone, ever.
Have a good week till next week.
