I store my music on Apple and as you will know, of you use the service, it provides all manner of lists. I’ve started using the lists to discover even more music but this list – Favourite Songs – Apple has chosen what it considers to be my favourite songs. I’m playing that list here in my Man Cave and I’m going to share it with you. Do you know and like any of these songs?
- I’ve Been Down so Long (It Looks Like up to Me) by Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood. Well, I do love Nancy and Lee and this is from their 1968 LP Nancy and Lee. Nice.
- Asia by Ouzo Bazooka. Lovely joint from Tel Aviv’s finest, from 2025’s excellent Kapaim.
- Remember My Name by Sam Fender. Oh God, this is a great track from 2025’s epic People Watching, all about his grandparents. A stellar talent.
- Cajun Girl by Little Feat. And now we go back to 1988 for this cracking little joint from the very decent Let It Roll LP.
- God Gave Me Feet For Dancing by Ezra Collective ft Yazmin Lacy. 2024’s Dance, No One’s Watching was one of the albums of the year. This, with added Yazmin Lacey, is perfect.
- Sowing The Seeds Of Love by Tears For Fears. Title track of their brilliant 1989 LP. Love this.
- Apocalypse Dreams by Tame Impala. Now we head back to 2012 for a joint from the excellent Lonerism album.
- First Air Of Autumn by Drive-By Truckers. One of my favourite bands. This from their album English Oceans from way back in 2014.
- Tama by Tonto’s Expanding Head Band. And now we go back to 1971 and some sublime electronica by the astonishing Tonto and his Expanding Head Band. From their classic album Zero Time.
- The Runaway by Gentle Giant. 1973 here and some classic prog from In A Glass House. Love them.
- The Last Resort by The Eagles. 50 years on and I don’t think Hotel California as an album has aged particularly well, except for this absolute stone cold classic.
Apple knows me too well, I’m afraid.
