That Thursday Music Shuffle (28.2.19)

by Rick Johansen

What with the Blue Oyster Cult tonight and Massive Attack tomorrow, I will have precious little spare time to do the usual Friday music shuffle from my collection, so what else can I do than to bring it forward a day?

It’s the last day of winter and I have repaired to my Man Cave to listen to the sounds.

Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends!

  1. Speak In Rounds by Grizzly Bear. Some great indie rock from their 2012 album Shield.
  2. Don’t Waste My Time by Status Quo. Possibly my favourite Quo tune, although there are so many crackers!
  3. No Way But The Hard Way by Airbourne. The band who destroyed my left ear, giving me tinnitus for life, but no hard feelings, lads. Classic hard rock from their No Guts, No Glory, bearing more than a resemblance to AC/DC at their best.
  4. All I Want Is You by Roxy Music. Virginia Plain is ain’t, but it’s still tidy enough.
  5. Gurney Slade Theme by Max Harris. No, I don’t know what this is, either. Might need to Google it.
  6. Fireball by Deep Purple. An absolute Purple classic, featuring impossibly manic drumming from Ian Paice.
  7. This Life Holds Something For me by Nils Lofgren. I’ve seen Nils live a few times and he is always brilliant. As is this.
  8. Washington Bullets by the Clash. So good. Sandanista is such a great record.
  9. Summer Elaine and Drunk Dori by Weezer. Unmistakably Rivers Cuomo and the chaps. This is from the Weezer White Album.
  10. How Many More Times by Field Music. Wonderful music from the North East of England.

That’s all, folks!
