What the fuck? It’s nearly the end of 2018, no one gives a toss what I’m doing or listening to, but it’s my blog and I’ll do what I like with it. And what I like with it is another music shuffle, so I can avoid Jools Holland’s Hootenanny which has bored music lovers for 25 years and this year features a line-up that could send a sane man to sleep long before midnight. Spoiler alert: it was filmed on 12 December.
Anyway, here’s my last 2018 shuffle. The iPod is set to shuffle. Enjoy/endure. Welcome back, my friends, to the show that never ends.
Two Months Off by Underworld. Simply magnificent and my favourite bit of Karl Hyde.
There’s No Lights on the Christmas Tree Mother, They’re Burning Big Louie Tonight by the Sensational Alex Harvey Band. Totally bonkers and totally wonderful for NYE!
All Right by Christopher Cross. For Totos, two Porcaros (both now deceased), Lukather and Lenny Castro, plus Michael McDonald feature on this classic. Such a talent.
Everything Will Be Alright by City Reverb. Some lush Ibiza chill out, here.
Soon by Yes. From 1974’s Relayer album, Jon Anderson’s voice is to die for.
Leather and Lace by Stevie Nicks ft Don Henley. Stevie was at her absolute peak when she made this record and of course Donald has been at his musical peak forever.
Same by Snow Patrol. From the only Snow Patrol album I liked, the Final Straw. Some filler but this is killer.
One Day of Your Life by Andy Williams. Seriously, this is fucking brilliant. One of the best singers of all time.
The Golden Age of Rock and Roll by Mott the Hoople. Ian Hunter – genius. Don’t discuss.
The Sun Hasn’t Set On This Boy Yet by Nils Lofgren. I am not a religious man and I know that things don’t “happen for a reason” but how great is this? The sun hasn’t set on this boy yet!
