658Welcome my friends to the show that never ends.
The shuffle is a bit late today because I was listening to the last ever Radcliffe and Maconie show on BBC 6 Music. All of it, as it happens. But now I am back in my Man Cave. The iPod, an original one, too, marginally more modern than the Sony Walkman I used to cart about with me, is about to be set free to play 10 songs at random and, for no obvious reason, I will tell you what they are.
Let’s rock!
Hand Hold Hero by LUMP. LUMP is the brilliant band formed by Laura Marling and Mike Lindsey and the eponymous album is one of the best records of 2018.
You Don’t Have To Cry by Crosby, Stills and Nash. From 1969 and it’s still bloody beautiful.
Nobody Gives A Damn by Blackberry Smoke. Top notch rock, tinged with a little country. From their 2018 long player Find A Light.
November Has Come by Gorillaz. Class hip hop by Damon Albarn’s virtual band, this track from Demon Days features MF Doom.
Dark Eyed Cajun Woman by the Doobie Brothers. From their best, and utterly flawless, album The Captain and Me.
The Space Program by A Tribe Called Quest. This cracker comes from their final album We got it from Here… Thank You 4 Your service released in 2016.
Hay Wrap by the Saw Doctors. County Galway’s finest.
Add Some Music To Your Day by the Beach Boys. From their Live at the Paramount record, Mike Love at his most nasal. Lush.
Words by the Bee Gees. Classic from the brothers Gibb.
Never Mind The Strangers by the Saw Doctors. Blimey – two tunes from the Irish boys. Magic.
