Smashing the glass ceiling

by Rick Johansen

If anyone is wondering what THE ANGELA RAYNER SCANDAL is all about, please allow me to explain. The Conservative party MP James Daly, with all the principles and ethics of his brother Arthur, has asked Inspector Knacker to investigate whether she updated the electoral roll donkeys’ years ago. And that really is it. But the purpose of the police referral has nothing to do with an alleged crime having been committed, it’s everything to with Rayner herself, a working class woman who left school with no qualifications and has subsequently made her way to the upper echelons of politics by way of her ability. Working class people. The Tories hate the idea of us being successful. They’ve tried this before with John Prescott. It didn’t work then and it doesn’t work today.

It’s class war and it’s desperate. After 14 long years of failure, Rishi Sunak’s Conservatives have nothing left to offer the British people. The only reason they seek to regain power is power itself.  Mired in real sleaze themselves, they lash out, along with their client journalists in the gutter press, and invent sleaze, to muddy the waters, to make us think that all politicians are as bad as they are. They aren’t. Let’s look at the evidence:

At first, Rayner was falsely accused of avoiding tax totally around £1500. She didn’t. But look at what some of her accusers have been up to. Don’t forget, by the way, that Nadhim Zahawi claimed MPs’ expenses to keep his horses warm until he got caught and said it was all a big accident. Of course it was. Who hasn’t put in an expenses claim to keep their horses warm? Oddly, the popular press was happy to accept Zahawi’s apology once he got caught.

Then there was Robert ‘Honest Bob’ Jenrick who helped former porn merchant and Daily Express owner Richard ‘Dirty’ Desmond avoid a £45 million tax bill. That wasn’t even a mistake. Presumably, £45 million is the sort of money you’d find down the back of the sofa to these shysters and frauds.

John Prescott was reviled by the gutter press for being working class. They hated his great success in becoming Deputy Prime Minister and running a government department at the same time, something well beyond the level of Lib Dem shit bag Nick Clegg. Prescott was expected to know his place in society . A steward and waiter on a merchant navy ship should do what he’s told. And so should a former care worker like Angela Rayner. What right does she have to even breathe the same air as private schoolboy and hedge fund manager Rishi Sunak, who married into the family of multi billionaires. Sunak was born to rule. Prescott, according to the upper orders, was there to serve tea to his betters and Rayner to care for the same people when they became old and infirm.

That really is how Britain still works. It’s why we had PMs like Cameron with his posh boy deputy Clegg, ultra posh boy Johnson and now the richest posh boy PM in the history of British politics.

It will turn out that Rayner did nothing wrong but the Tories know that. This is about slinging mud and hoping that some of it sticks. For the hard of thinking, they hope, it will stick.

I dream of a country that is a meritocracy rather than a country where it’s jobs for the boys (and girls). The people who like things the way they are, don’t. They want to keep the lower classes where they are. Don’t believe a word of it. Dirty tricks are going to be the story of the next election but the people who deserve the biggest possible bucket of shit being dumped on their heads are the Conservatives. And Angela Rayner, a working class deputy PM alongside a working class prime minister, Keir Starmer? Let’s smash the glass ceiling, friends, and kill this class war.
