My heart sank when I heard on the news that the name of the Clapham attack suspect was Abdul Shakoor Ezedi. Why couldn’t have been Wayne Scrote from Neasden? Then, things took yet another turn for the worse when we learned that Ezedi arrived from Afghanistan in 2016, was convicted of sexual assault in 2018 and only then awarded asylum. It seems he was granted asylum at the third attempt, not least because of the intervention of a priest who confirmed Ezedi was perfectly decent chap because he had converted to christianity. So that’s alright, then.
As of today, Ezedi is, in the eyes of the law, an innocent man so it’s best to somehow keep an open mind as to the identity of the person who attacked and it seems maimed a woman and her daughter by chucking alkali at them. Judging from social media, an open mind is the last thing people have about these appalling attacks, me among them. That’s enough about this case, so let’s talk about something entirely different.
When – let’s think of a random example – someone comes from a distant part of the world, we welcome them to our country and they commit horrendous crimes, the debate, such as it is, descends into one about migration. These asylum seekers/refugees/migrants are all the same, is one view. That they plainly aren’t – my late grandfather from the former Viking stronghold of Scandinavia did not rape and pillage his way across Bristol and Somerset at the start of the previous century – is irrelevant. “Our people = good. Johnny Foreigner = bad.”
Nothing good will come from this, although we can be sure that the suspect will either be tried or shot dead, so I suppose that’s something, but it’s the signs this will send, particularly to the hard right where the likes of the nicotine-stained man frog Nigel Farage seek to gain cheap publicity because of “uncontrolled migration”, are obvious. You can imagine it now. ‘THIS ONLY HAPPENED BECAUSE OF UNCONTROLLED MIGRATION!” Yes, we’ve seen it all before. People coming over here, committing rape and mass murderer. Just look at previous migrants like Fred West, Harold Shipman, Peter Sutcliffe, Ian Brady, Dennis Nilsen – asylum seekers/refugees/illegals every one.
Because that’s where this kind of things end up. A dislike and distrust of anyone who isn’t British despite the fact that actually quite a few wrong ‘uns have actually been white and British. Sadly this doesn’t fit the perverse narrative.
Actually, I wish it wasn’t anyone who committed this awful attack. Johnny Foreigner or a home-produced maniac. It’s just bad people doing bad things, but I’m afraid not everyone sees it that way. And definitely don’t rely on the judgement of some Godwhacker or other. I couldn’t think of anyone less qualified.
