I’ve been banished to my Man Cave due to an ongoing Zoom piss up not involving me in the living room. I’m playing some music and sadly for you it’s time to see some of the music I am playing. Saturday night and I am going to sit here, all alone, and allow my music centre to play ten tunes at random. Here they come. Let’s rock!
It’s A Sign by Teenage Fan Club. Gorgeous tune from the Scots lads’ 2016 long player, Here.
Ruby Baby by Donald Fagen. Lush cover of the Lieber and Stoller classic from the Steely Dan man’s first solo album the Nightfly.
Half A Block by Fun Lovin’ Criminals. Huey and the boys with a career high from the Loco album.
Desert Medlodie by Songhoy Blues. The brilliant Mali rockers, forced to leave their homes when Sharia Law was implemented. Their loss, our gain.
Lea by Toto. I think we had this one a shuffle or two ago. Good. It’s lovely.
Comedy by Shack. The finest band to come out of Liverpool since the Beatles, it is nothing short of a musical crime that Michael Head is not a superstar.
Look Out (Here Comes Tomorrow) by the Monkees. Written by and featuring Neil Diamond on acoustic guitar, Davy Jones never sounded better.
Body Talks by the Struts. Cracking tune from one of Britain’s finest emerging rock bands.
Sky Trails by David Crosby. Late in his career, Croz is making some of the best music of his career. This is the title track from his 2017 album, Sky Trails, obviously.
Somebody Told Me (Mylo Remix) by the Killers. Excellent.
