Greetings, pop-pickers, and welcome to the weekly music shuffle. It’s that time of the week when I set my music device free and it chooses ten random songs from my collection. Next, if you can stand the excitement, I tell you what it’s chosen and if you click on the song titles you can listen and hopefully even sing along!
I hope you find some music you like.
- Broken Barricades by Procol Harum. Title track of their 1971 LP. Just a joy.
- At My Most Beautiful by R.E.M. It’s 1998 and a brilliant song from Up.
- What’s To Choose by Moby Grape. Great old joint all the way back to 1968. Very influential band.
- Razor Boy by Steely Dan. Incredibly, Countdown To Ecstasy was released 50 years ago. Less incredibly, it still sounds fantastic. Best band ever.
- Accelerate by R.E.M. Title track of their 2008 LP and a stunning return to top form (not they ever lost form, really).
- Let Him Run Wild by the Beach Boys. An old classic from 1965’s Summer Days (and Summer Nights!) album.
- Moda by Jordan Rakei. Love the Kiwi born Rakei. Have seen him live more than anyone else in the last 30 years. This from 2019’s Origin.
- Rhinestone Cowboy by Glen Campbell. This is just a great song and performance.
- You Belong To Me by the Doobie Brothers. Back to 1977 and the Michael McDonald version of the Doobies, with a joint from Livin’ On The Fault Line.
- The First Sight by Teenage Fanclub. Gorgeous track from 2016’s Here.
This week’s Desert Island Disc is the exciting number four song Razor Boy by Steely Dan.
Have a good week ’til next week.
