Greeting pop-pickers and welcome to the Friday Music Shuffle. It’s a LAST DAY OF SPRING SPECIAL today which means absolutely fuck all because it’s the same format as usual.
Ten songs, randomly chosen from my collection by my music device, and I tell you what it’s chosen. And all you have to do is click on the song title to listen and sing along. What could be more fun?
Anyway, here we go. Let’s rock.
- The Plastic Age by Buggles. Not gonna lie: I’m a massive fan of Trevor Horn in general and Buggles in particular. And this, from 1980’s The Age Of Plastic, which I have, twice over, is just wonderful.
- Golden Hours by Brian Eno. Back we go to 1975 and a lush joint from the great man’s Another Green World long player.
- It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue by Bob Dylan. So much for me listening to new music all the time as we go back to 1965 with a classic from Bringing It All Back Home.
- Lover Man (Oh, Where Can You Be) by Django Et Le Quintette Du Hot Club De France. The last song was brand new compared to this beauty by Django Reinhardt, which takes us back to 1947.
- Myself At Last by Graham Nash. Latter day Nash from 2016’s This Path Tonight. The man still writes a mean tune.
- Girl In The Fire by Pendulum. One of my favourite tracks from 2005’s Hold Your Colour.
- Rainy Day People by Gordon Lightfoot. 1975 again for some lovely Lightfoot music from his album Cold On The Shoulder.
- New Revolution by the Besnard Lakes. You may not be familiar with this band but do try to have a wee listen to their 2021 album called … deep breath …The Besnard Lakes Are The Last of the Great Thunderstorm Warnings. Superb band from Montreal. The lake is in Saskatchewan.
- Make It Better by Anderson .Paak feat. Smokey Robinson. 2019’s Ventura is a terrific album and this track, featuring the great Smokey Robinson, is gorgeous.
- Beehive State by The Doobie Brothers. And finally, back to 1971, rocks’ finest year, as the Doobies cover a Randy Newman tune from their eponymously titled debut long player.
Now that’s what I call an eclectic shuffle. This week’s Desert island Disc is the exciting number nine tune, Make It Better by Anderson .Paak feat. Smokey Robinson.
Hope you found something you liked, there.
Have a good week till next week.
