Good day, all, and welcome to the Friday Music Shuffle. Just for a change, my music device will select ten random songs from my collection and I tell you, dear reader, what it’s chosen. I’ll be listening along in real time so why don’t you? Just click on the title and YouTube will do the rest. Maybe you will find some music that you like? I hope so.
- What’s The Difference by Michael Head. The criminally underrated Liverpudlian singer songwriter from 2017’s excellent Adiós Señor Pussycat.
- I Need Someone To Trust by Badly Drawn Boy. Another brilliant singer songwriter from Oop North (albeit born in Kent). This from 2020’s Banana Skin Shoes. Nice.
- I Am The Storm by Blue Öyster Cult. And now we go back to 1979 and the Cult’s thoroughly decent Mirrors LP.
- Look What You Done by JET. This brilliant song by the Aussie band gained comparisons with early Oasis. Dream on, Noel and Liam. They could never write a song as good as this. Fact.
- Rat Race by The Specials. It’s okay.
- Icallthishome by Parcels. Just over a minute of pure beauty.
- Chinatown by Shack. See track one: its Michael Head again, this time with his excellent band Shack. This one comes from the wonderfully named Here’s Tom With The Weather album.
- Broken by Hot Chip. Superb stuff from 2022’s Freakout/Release LP. “Am I still broken, am I still broken? You know that I’m hoping (can I still be fixed, can I still be fixed?)” Quite.
- Missing You by Dan Fogelberg. This one comes from Fogelberg’s classic 1982 album, Dan Fogelberg’s Greatest Hits and features my dear friend, the legendary drummer Joe Vitale.
- Soft Coda by North Atlantic Oscillation. This is brilliant, from 2012’s sensational Fog Electric album.
I loved doing that one. This week’s Desert Island Disc is the exciting number ten song Soft Coda by North Atlantic Oscillation. Do yourself a favour and buy that album.
Have a good week till next week.
