G’day all and welcome to the Friday Music Shuffle. Yes, it’s that exciting time of the week when my music device selects ten random songs from my collection and I tell you what it’s chosen. If that’s not exciting enough, you can join in the ‘fun’ by clicking on the titles which will enable you to listen and, perish the thought, sing along.
Hope you find something you like!
- Change Partners by Stephen Stills. Absolutely lush tune from the man’s second solo album called, remarkably, Stephen Stills 2.
- Confessions In The Pool by Ash. What a consistently top band they are. This from 2018’s Islands.
- I Don’t Search I Find by Madonna. Despite the atrocious misogyny and sexism that she attracts, the truth is she still makes great music, like this from 2019’s Madame X.
- Brand New Cadillac by The Clash. And now we return to 1979 and a joint from one of the greatest albums of all time, London Calling.
- Can’t Hang by Sammy Hagar and the Circle. Very good rocker from Sammy’s 2019 album Space Between. Do enjoy Jason Bonham’s power drumming.
- Movies Is Magic by Brian Wilson and Van Dyke Parks. Their 1995 album Orange Crate Art is patchy at best and this is a million miles away from being as good as patchy. Sorry.
- The Gate by Caroline Polachek. That’s more like it. Short and very sweet from her lovely 2019 album Pang.
- Easy Money by Westerman. Well, he’s brilliant. This from 2020’s Your Hero Is Not Dead.
- I Left My Heart In San Francisco by Tony Bennett. One of the great singers singing one of the great songs. Nuff said.
- Space Rock by Weezer. Slight contrast to Anthony Dominick Benedetto here, with a rocker from 2002’s Maladroit LP.
My Desert Island Disc this week would have been toss of a coin time but for the first song that came up, Change Partners by Stephen Stills.
That’s it for this week. I’ll see you, if not in my dreams, then next month.
