I hope you can stand the excitement because it’s time for the Friday Music Shuffle. Yes, that ‘exciting’ time of the week when I set my music device free and it selects ten random tracks from my collection. I then tell you, my loyal reader, what it has chosen and should you choose to listen and even sing a long – which is, after all the whole point – then just click on the title and turn your speakers up to at least 11.
I hope you find something you like.
- Black Queen by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Straight back to 1970 and an excellent track from the band’s live album 4 Way Street.
- Djit Nishrab by Dudu Tassa & Jonny Greenwood Ft. Ahmed Doma. Absolutely wonderful from their 2023 album Jarak Qaribak. I was so looking forward to seeing them in Bristol but sadly serious and credible threats were made to the staff at the venue by so-called Palestine supporters and it was cancelled.
- The James Bond Theme by the John Barry Seven and Orchestra. If you don’t know this, are you alive?
- Planet Telex by Radiohead. Back to 1995 and this banger from The Bends.
- Passing Me By by The Pharcyde. How can this song by 33 years old? Still so fresh, classic hip hop.
- Blackstar by David Bowie. The title track of Bowie’s final album, released in 2016. It’s incredible.
- Opilio by Lapalax. Well, this is rather lovely, from the 2018 long player Brainfeeder X.
- Cover Me Up by Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit. It’s great. From 2013’s Southeastern.
- She Don’t look Back by Dan Fogelberg. 1987 now and a strong track from his album Exiles.
- Colours by Badly Drawn Boy. And finally, the great Damon Gough with a joint from 2020’s Banana Skin Shoes. Such a great songwriter.
This week’s Desert Island Disc is Blackstar by David Bowie.
Hope you enjoyed that eclectic shuffle. Have a good week till next week.
