The day I stopped the trains – an update

by Rick Johansen

Literally millions of you read my blog The Day I Stopped The Trains (is this right? – ed) and I am sure you were anxious to know what happened next. Let me tell you.

I wrote to GWR thanking the employees of the company for their kindness and apologising for causing a significant part of the rail network to grind to a halt because of the actions of a silly old fool watching the trains go by. Well, they’ve taken the trouble to reply and I am publishing it in its entirety for your delectation.

I think it’s great. Do you agree?

Dear Rick

Thank you for contacting Great Western Railway regarding your experience at Pilning Station. I appreciate you taking the time to send across your lovely comments about the driver of the Cardiff bound train.

We work really hard to make sure we give our customers great service, and we set very high standards for our teams, so it is great to hear that your experience reflects these.

We will of course let them know what you said, they will be really happy to hear it and I’m very grateful you took the time to let us know what happened.

Thank you again for getting in touch. We are always pleased to hear when our teams are doing us proud.

Yours sincerely,
