Sorry, it’s late. Just been having my eyes tested. Some of you might suggest I have my ears tested after this!
1. Mr Greed by John Fogerty. From the brilliant Centrefield record. John is angry here.
“Mr. Greed, why you got to own everything that you see?
Mr. Greed, why you put a chain on everybody livin’ free?
You’re hungerin’ for his house, you’re hungerin’ for his wife
And your appetite will never be denied
You’re a devil of consumption, I hope you choke, Mr. Greed”
2. What the world is waiting for by the Stone Roses. Unmistakably the Roses and of course wonderful.
3. Good and Bad Folks by Pagliaro. Montreal’s finest usually sings in French, but he made one self-titled album in 1971 performed entirely in English. Featuring the Beatle-esque Lovin’ You Ain’t Easy, it was brilliant. This is a bluesy number with old Michel blasting out his vocal chords almost to destruction.
4. Dirty Epic by Underworld. This can’t be from 1994, can it? Good God. Have you got the album dubnobasswithmyheadman? You should have.
5. Once Around the Block by Badly Drawn Boy. You probably know this song, even if you don’t think you do. I think it’s lovely.
6. Krisco Kisses by Frankie Goes To Hollywood. Welcome to the Pleasuredome was a great, great album.
7. Just a ride by Jem. From the fair to middling Finally Woken album. This is one of the better tracks.
8. Mr Lion by the Marmalade. My iPod has gone mental today. This isn’t Class A music but it sounds like it was inspired by Class A something.
9. Black Diamond Bay by Bob Dylan. Desire is my favourite Dylan album and this is just great.
10. This House Is On Fire by AC/DC. A lot of filler and not much killer on most AC/DC albums and this is somewhere between the two. At least it’s Brian Johnson when he could scream properly.
