That Friday Music Shuffle 1/7

by Rick Johansen

I need some music, so what better than 10 random songs from the iPod belting round my cave?

Here goes:

1. Unbreak My Heart by Weezer. From Death to False Metal, it really is a cover of the Toni Braxton original and it’s very wonderful and very Weezer.

2. Kernkraft 400 (DJ Gius video remix) by Zombie Nation. Ah yes, Zombie Nation. What we’ve been for a week now.

3. Baby Ice Dog by Blue Oyster Cult. Tyranny and Mutation is a great record and this a great tune.

4. Somebody that I used to know by Gotye (feat. Kimbra). I bought the album on the back of this great song and it was the biggest mistake I had made since buying the New Radicals album after loving You Get What You Give because it’s the only good song on the album.

5. Carmen by Toto. I’m not going to kid you: a very average cut from the Isolation album.

6. Southern Man by Neil Young. Do I need to say more?

7. Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. A bit of Stevie Nicks on here too. Lush.

8. Theme from No Hiding Place by Laurie Johnson. Yes, really.

9. Go Down Fighting by Nazareth. The raging tones of Dan McCafferty’s band always make me think of AC/DC, but with better songs.

10. Superstar Woman by Bad Company. A rare bit of filler from Paul Rodgers’ otherwise excellent back catalogue.

And that’s it, folks!
