I am reading a lot about Myeleen Klass lately. She is, by all accounts, a multimillionaire who is opposed to any suggestion of a ‘Mansion Tax’ on homes worth over £2 million because she is so poverty-stricken she can only afford private school fees of a mere £5k a term for her young child. There was a story how she had a pop at Ed Miliband on a telly show and another one where she tweeted something about a birthday collection at said child’s school (I was not interested in reading the story, so I can’t say more than that). All well and good and all that, but who is Myeleen Klass?
She is obviously famous but I had no idea what for, so I went to Wikipedia and I am none the wiser. It looks as if she can play the piano very well, she was on ‘I’m a celebrity get me out of here’, which happily I have never seen and she is – and here’s the giveaway – a TV presenter. Pardon me for being cynical but she’s another one who is famous for being famous.
Klass at least appears to have a brain, even if she puts it to somewhat dubious use with her public outpourings, but is she really any different from, say, Katie Price? Price has earned millions through showing off her plastic breasts, shagging various ‘celebrities’ like Peter Andre and publishing several editions of her memoirs. With regard to the latter, what did she write about? ‘Went to a studio full of gurning men. Got my tits out. Got my tits enlarged. Shagged Dwight Yorke, had a baby who was, sadly, blind. Met Peter Andre. Went on telly a lot.’ Now I have nothing against the girl, but why on earth is she famous? She has no discernible talent and in my view sets back the causes of women by light years.
The TV presenter is the product of our age. If you have no real ability in terms of performing, or your skill set would be more appropriate for a local musical society (are you listening Myeleen?), then superstardom seems to be dependent on your ability to read an autocue and introduce those who do have talent.
I read also that Klass has appeared on the hideously sexist ITV show ‘Loose Women’ where a group of women discuss topics in such a way that if there was a programme called ‘Loose Men’ saying the same things, it would be taken off the air immediately. Filth, I tell you.
I’m sure she’s a nice rich girl who’s good to her family and kind to animals but in our totally non meritocratic society she gets heard where those with far more talent and far less money don’t have a chance.
Maybe that’s what Cameron said when he referred to Broken Britain.
