To all my social media friends and family, my partner* and I will not be sending any Christmas cards this year. Instead, we will be donating a far larger sums of money to the Somerset Cider Brandy Company, Thatcher’s Cider, Glenfiddich, various cheese companies, a certain Mr Sandeman, Mr Wolfgang Blass and to the beautiful Cloudy Bay in New Zealand.
I hope you understand our decision, but in truth buying, writing and then sending cards is such a boring and expensive pain-in-the-arse exercise for which you get no thanks at all.
Have a merry christmas and a happy new year and just remember that the space where my card should be is probably resting in a glass of something nice and it’s always better to receive than give, isn’t it?
* My partner is of course sending loads of cards, which will have my name on. Don’t be getting ideas, will you?
