Friday morning is music morning and here goes with the iPod random shuffle:
1. Subterranean Homesick Blues by Bob Dylan. From Bringing it all back home, check out the royal bobness video accompanying this and his bits of card with the words on.
2. Wishin’ and hopin’ by Dusty Springfield. If she’d been American, Dusty would have been the superstar she really should have been. That voice.
3. Alfie by Cilla Black. A Burt Bacharach/Hal David classic. Never a fan of Cilla’s two or three different voices, depending on how loud she sang, but this is the definitive version.
4. When I Fall In Love by Nat King Cole. I know Old Blue Eyes was the guv’nor, but Nat did it for me, too.
5. Cry Me A River by Michael Buble. This is turning into one weird old shuffle! But I do like the Buble!
6. Black Dog by Led Zeppelin. Wake up!
7. Rhythm is a dancer by Snap. Some cracking German dance music here.
8. Out Of Control by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Later CSNY from the underrated Looking Forward, with Neil taking the lead.
9. Black Diamond by Kiss. I always found early Kiss too sparsely produced and this cracking song should have been much fuller.
10. Water Melon in Easter Hay by Frank Zappa. It’s Joe’s Garage. “Who gives a fuck anyway?” Well, I do, Frank. No one else did what you did.
