A memorial to Ben Hiscox

by Rick Johansen

What are you doing this Saturday? Well, at 12.00 noon on 1st August something very special will be happening on the village green in Stoke Gifford: a bench in memory of Ben Hiscox will be unveiled and an apple blossom tree will be planted with Ben’s ashes.

Ben’s family would like to invite anyone who knew him to come along and take part in the service on the village green and it would be great if you could all make the effort to be there for this very special day.

I know, of course, that this is the peak holiday season and many of you won’t be around but if you could get there to remember Ben and celebrate these permanent memorials I know it would be a great comfort and a real source of strength to the family.

Ben’s incredible dad Clive is appearing on Radio Bristol this Friday at around 11.00 am to tell the story so if you may want to retune your radio for that.

Time passes so quickly and it’s incredible to think that already four months have passed since Ben’s passing. None of us have forgotten Ben and this Saturday we have another opportunity to remember him, to celebrate his life and once again show the unity for which our little village is renowned.

See you there!
