Afternoon, all. Yes, it’s time for the Friday Music Shuffle. 10 tunes from my collection chosen at random from my musical device and I tell you what they are. And if you want to sing along, just click on the song title!
Let’s rock!
- Glory Box by Portishead. From 1995’s Dummy, this song, sampled from Isaac Hayes’ Ike’s Rap 2 is fantastic.
- From Russia With Love by Matt Munro. Matt’s big error was to be British. If he’d been born in the USA with a voice like his, he’d have been a superstar. This from 1963 was his Bond theme.
- Bad Tune by Earth, Wind and Fire. Fifty years old this, mind. Incredible.
- Guilty by Barbra Streisand and Barry Gibb. I think this is just great.
- Shenandoah by Fisherman’s Friends. The Port Isaac boys perform a classic. Beautifully, I must say.
- Underground Machine by Take That. Forgettable Robbie Williams tune from 2010’s Progress, which this album mostly wasn’t.
- Lonely Press Play by Damon Albarn. From 2014’s sublime Everyday Robots. I have so much man love for Damon.
- Hot, Blue and Righteous by ZZ Top. From 1973’s Tres Hombres long player, some early blues from the long bearded boys.
- Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad by Derek and the Dominos. It’s almost embarrassing having mad anti-vax loon Slowhand on the shuffle these days, but this from 1970s Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs is incredible.
- On The Run by Khan. I know nothing about this except to say it’s on one of my Lovebox compilations and it’s triffic.
That’s all, folks!
