Welcome my friends to the show that never ends. Yes, it’s time for the Friday music shuffle. 10 tunes from my collection, chosen at random not by me but by my musical device and I tell you what they are. And if you want to sing along, just click on the title.
So, without further ado, let’s rock!
- All The Way by Pearl Charles. Marvellous track from Pearl’s 2021 long player Magic Mirror.
- Last Will and Testament by JJ Cale and Eric Clapton. I’m really going off Clapton, what with his historical racism and his current nutjob anti-vax insanity, but anyway this is a track from JJ and EC’s 2006 LP The Road to Escondido. Stick to the music, Slowhand, before you trash the final remnants of your reputation.
- Sule Skerry by Erland Cooper feat Astra Forward and Hiroshi Ebina. Truly gorgeous track from 2019’s album of the same name about Cooper’s homeland Orkney. Buy Sule Skerry.
- December by Teenage Fanclub. The great Scots from 1991’s Bandwagonesque. Wonderful, wonderful.
- Jack Of Speed by Steely Dan. It’s time for near perfection from the Dan’s epic Two Against Nature. 21 years old, mind. Best band ever.
- Is Yesterday Tomorrow Today? by The Stereophonics. I happen to think Kelly Jones has one of the great rock and roll voices. This track from 1999s Performance and Cocktails explains why.
- Interlude No. 1 / Play It All Night Long by Warren Zevon. We’re back to 1980 in this absolute belter from Bad Luck Streak In Dancing School.
- The Ballad Of Peter Pumpkinhead by XTC. Magic from Swindon’s very finest.
- Whitney Houston Dub Plate by Wyclef Jean. The Haitian boy from his 2000 long player The Ecleftic.
- Break by Aphrodite’s Child. Simply brilliant prog rock from the Greek boys’ 1972 classic record 666. Vangelis Papathanassíou sings lead on this one. Demis Roussos was also in the band.
Pretty damn eclectic, don’t you think?
That’s all, folks!
