Goods morning pop pickers and welcome to my millions of followers who tune in every week for the Friday Music Shuffle (is this right? – ed). Yes, it’s the usual tired and worn-out format – my musical device selects ten random songs from my collection and I tell you what the songs are. And if that isn’t exciting enough, you can click on the song title and listen to the music.
So, without further ado, let’s rock!
- Hot Rails To Hell (live) by Blue Oyster Cult. From 1975’s excellent On Your Feet Or On Your Knees live album, this is BOC near or at their peak.
- River Is Waiting by John Fogerty. Lovely track from the ex Creedence man’s 2007 long player Revival.
- Do Your Thing by Basement Jaxx. Brilliant from Basement and her/his Jaxx.
- 5 Corners by The Doobie Brothers. Sweet little instrumental from the Doobies.
- Monolith by T. Rex. It’s back to *gulps* 1971 for this belter from Bolan’s finest album, Electric Warrior.
- Ten Feet Tall by XTC. Back to the 70s again, this time to 1979, to remind ourselves that Andy Partridge was a bit of a genius.
- Siesta by Ezra Collective feat. Emeli Sandé. All the way back 2022 for this track from the band’s stunning long player Where I’m Meant To Be.
- You’re What’s Happenin’, Baby by Billy Gibbons and the BFGs. In 2015, the ZZ Top main man released a great solo record called Perfectamundo. This track is fits that album title.
- Pamela (live) by Toto. The 2013 vintage of the band, this is a great version of one of their classics.
- Heat by David Bowie. Classic Bowie – isn’t everything by Bowie classic? – from 2013’s The Next Day.
Plenty to choose from for this week’s Desert Island Disc and I’m going for the exciting number four tune, 5 Corners by The Doobie Brothers.
That’s all, folks!
