Greetings pop-pickers and welcome to the Friday Music Shuffle.
We’re in the final month of spring now so let’s celebrate the approaching summer by listening to the music, in this case my music. Here, I set my music device free to select ten random songs from my collection. As I listen along live, I tell you, dear reader, what it’s chosen.
I hope you listen along. All you need to do is click the song title and as if by magic the music starts to play.
I hope you find something you like.
- Stranger In Town by Toto. Little known banger from 1984’s Isolation. All three Porcaro brothers appear on this song.
- Wasted On The Way by Crosby, Stills and Nash. Beautiful Nash song from the band’s brilliant 1982 album Daylight Again.
- Filtered Grand Piano by Caribou. This song is what it says on the tin, 53 lovely seconds of it from his 2020 LP Suddenly.
- Marcella by The Beach Boys. An excellent latter day – 1972! – Brian Wilson song from the underrated Carl and the Passions – So Tough.
- Flying Over Water by Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit. Brilliant from the great man’s 2013 classic Southeastern.
- You’re Makin’ Me High (Groove Remix) by Toni Braxton feat. Foxy Brown. Back to 1996 and a lovely joint from Tone’s album Secrets.
- You Shook Me by Led Zeppelin. Brilliant bluesy rock from Zeppelin’s first album in 1969. Ends with the words “You shook me all night long“. Good title for a song, that.
- Marguerita Time by Status Quo. Surely the lowest point in Quo’s career, a dismal single from 1983’s Back To Back? It’s on a compilation album I have. Time to delete, I reckon.
- Surprise, Surprise by Bruce Springsteen. 2009’s Working On A Dream is a good album but this track is not a high point in The Boss’s career.
- Too Blue To Play by Nils Lofgren. Well, this is a lovely closing track from Lofgren’s excellent 2019 album Blue With Lou.
This week’s Desert Island Disc is Wasted On The Way by Crosby, Stills and Nash.
Apart from a few duds near the end, a decent shuffle, I reckon. Hope to see y’all again.
Have a good week till next week.
