Hi everyone and welcome to yet another Friday Music Shuffle. What happens is very simple (like me). My music device chooses ten random tracks from my collection and I tell you what it’s chosen. Then, in order to listen to the song – and I hope you do – just click on the title. I hope you find something you like.
- ’95 Aka Make Things Right by Lemon Jelly. Their 2005 album 64-95 is simply gorgeous. This is part of it.
- Little Miss Fortune by Bad Company. Ever wondered what the B side of their 1974 classic Can’t Get Enough was? It was this one. It’s decent enough, made better by Paul Rodgers’ magnificent vocals.
- Yuki Song by Deep Forest. 2002’s Music Detected wasn’t up to their previous high standards, but it was still decent enough. This is one of the decent joints on the album.
- SOS by Abba. Magnificent. And 50 years old.
- In Bloom by Nirvana. Back to 1991 and a great track from the finest grunge album of all time, Nevermind. I know that’s a low bar because most grunge was shite but Nevermind stands on its own as a great record.
- Can I Have My Money Back? by Gerry Rafferty. Back to 1971 for this wonderful bit of fluff. Love it.
- Hello Susie by The Move. Roy Wood and the chaps turn heavy metal in this banger from 1970.
- Sail Away by Boston. Brad Delp’s incredible voice was arguably the thing that made Boston such a great band. This is excellent.
- Obituaries by Free Nationals Feat. Shafiq Husayn. Brilliant from their eponymously titled 2019 album.
- Formula One by Wednesday. This is lovely, from 2023’s excellent Rat Saw God LP. Featuring the great MJ Lenderman.
A decent list, that, I reckon. My Desert Island Disc is In Bloom by Nirvana.
Have a good week till next week!
