Hi pop-pickers and welcome to the Friday Music Shuffle. You know, the one where my music machine selects ten random songs from my collection and I tell you what it’s chosen. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to click on each song title and listen along. The shuffle happens in real time, basically a playlist. Why not try it? You may find something you like.
Here we go!
- From The Floorboards Up by Paul Weller. I’m that rarity, someone who was a bit meh about his Jam music and much prefer his solo work. This from 2015’s As Is Now.
- Drystone Wall by Xaos. Just incredible. It’s from the 2015 album Xaos. Read all about it here. Blows my mind every time I hear it.
- Cue Fanfare by Prefab Sprout. The most underrated band of all time? Maybe. Either way, Paddy McAloon is a genius. This from 1984’s Swoon.
- Wide Eyes by Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever. Now we go back to the band’s excellent 2016 long player Talk Tight for this joint. Saw them in Bristol a few years ago. They were tremendous.
- The Holy Shangri-La by Foster The People. 2024 now and a lovely track from Paradise State Of Mind. Good band.
- Hypersonic Missiles by Sam Fender. I honestly believe the North Shields lad is on the verge of greatness. Enjoy this absolute banger which is of course the title and opening track of his debut album from 2019.
- Love Of The Common Man by Todd Rundgren. It’s superb of course, from Todd’s 1976 long player Faithful.
- This Train I’m On by the Doobie Brothers. Not their finest moment, but it’s still decent because it’s the Doobies. From 1991’s Brotherhood album.
- Ride Your Donkey by Joe Strummer. Now we’re back in 1989 for a track from the ex Clash man’s album Earthquake Weather. When you are talking genius, you have to talk Strummer.
- Let’s Get Down by Supafly vs Fishbowl. Classic House from 2005. What a way to close this week’s shuffle!
This week’s Desert Island Disc is Drystone Wall by Xaos. Pure magic.
Have a good week till next week.
