Greetings pop-pickers and welcome to this week’s music shuffle.
Every week, my music device chooses 10 random songs from my collection and for no obvious reason I tell you what it has chosen. The ‘fun’ starts when you click on the title to listen and, hopefully, sing along.
I hope you find something you like.
- Meant For You by The Beach Boys. The opening track of 1968’s Friends album, here is 38 seconds of joy.
- Blue Light by Lindsey Buckingham. A beauty from the great man’s eponymously titled LP from 2021. The real talent of the second version of Fleetwood Mac.
- New York by The Zombies. Staggeringly good return to form by the legendary 60s band, this from 2015’s Still Got That Hunger.
- All Alone In The End Zone by Jay Ferguson. Simply magnificent title track to the former Spirit/Jo Jo Gunne man’s 1976 album. Features Joe Walsh on guitars and the great Joe Vitale on Drums, Flute, Percussion, Vibraphone and background vocals.
- Cowboy Of Dreams by Crosby and Nash. Nice tune from a mere 50 years ago. Those harmonies, mind.
- Hold Your Colour (Live at Brixton) by Pendulum. A banger from 2009.
- Secretary Song by The Go! team. Well, I do like this banger from Brighton’s finest.
- Genie’s Open by Animal Collective. The always innovative Animal Collective from 2023’s wonderful Isn’t It Now? long player.
- The Lord Loves The One (That Loves The Lord) by George Harrison. There’s usually too much God on George’s albums for my money, but there’s no doubting the quality of the music. This from 1973’s Living In The Material World.
- Fading Away by Hall and Oates. From their 2004 (mainly) covers album Our Kind Of Soul, this is excellent.
A strong shuffle IMHO. This week’s Desert Island Disc is All Alone In The End Zone by Jay Ferguson.
Have a good week till next week.
