The Friday Music Shuffle (28th November 2025)

Last shuffle of autumn special - the next one will be in winter

by Rick Johansen

Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends. I’m so glad you could attend………Come inside Come inside!

Yes, it’s that Friday Music Shuffle where my music device selects ten random songs from my collection and I tell you what it’s chosen. Why not play along and listen ‘live’? You might find something you really like.

I hope you enjoy it.

  1. You And Me Together by Bobbie Gentry. Back to 1972 to listen to one of the great voices, a woman who happened to be one of my first crushes.
  2. Exit Music (From A Film) by Radiohead. From 1997’s fantastic OK Computer. The greatest band in the world right now IMHO.
  3. Ghost On The Canvas by Glen Campbell. Latter day Campbell from his album of the same name released in 2011. The album is okay, but this track is great, with nods to Wichita Lineman and all. He was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease by this time, but his musical ability and singing was unaffected, at least in the early years.
  4. Roman Holiday by Fontaines D.C. Such a great band, are the Fontaines. This from 2022’s essential Skinty Fia.
  5. Cool The Engines by Boston. Unmistakably Boston with a joint from their long player Third Stage, released in 1986. Brad Delp’s vocals and Tom Scholz’s guitar work so distinctive. If I am being totally honest, it’s probably a bit of album filler, but I like it.
  6. The Long And Winding Road by The Beatles. Well, it’s magnificent from their final LP Let It Be, first released in 1970.
  7. Try For The Sun by Lindsey Buckingham. Fast, frenetic and fantastic. This from 2006’s Under The Sun. What a guitar player.
  8. Ain’t Got Nobody by Weezer. This could not be anyone else. A banger from 2014’s Everything Will Be Alright In The End.
  9. Sing It Back by Moloko. Vintage House from 1999. Everyone knows this song, right?
  10. Song To The Siren by The Chemical Brothers. The geeky boys’ debut single from their 1995 LP Exit Planet Dust.

This week’s Desert Island Disc is, obviously, The Long And Winding Road by The Beatles.

Well, that was fun. Have a good week till next week.
