Greetings pop-pickers and welcome to my weekly music shuffle.
Every Friday, my music device chooses ten random songs from my collection and I tell you the random choices. All you need do is click on the song title in order to listen and, I hope, sing along. I hope you find something you like.
- Walls Come Tumbling Down by The Style Council. 40 years have passed since Paul Weller’s Jam follow-up act stormed the charts with this banger. Shame about his silly new post Jam American accent, but still.
- Mother Says by Joe Walsh. A fantastic rocker from Walsh’s greatest album, 1972’s Barnstorm.
- It’s Not Right But It’s Okay by Whitney Houston. Back to 1998 and the days in which Ms Houston could churn out a decent R&B tune.
- Word Game by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. A live version of a decent Stills song from back in 1974.
- Wings Of A Dove by Brian Wilson and Van Dyke Parks. An okay song from 1995’s Orange Crate Art long player.
- Big Love by Pete Heller’s Big Love. Classic House from 1999.
- Suite: Judy Blue Eyes by Crosby, Stills and Nash. Truly great live version of the Stills classic from 2012.
- The Story Of My Life by Marty Robbins. God knows what album this is on – some compilation or other? – but it’s a lovely old song from 1957.
- Lullaby by Laura Marling. Well, this is lovely, from last year’s Patterns In Repeat.
- Garden Of Dance by Talc. And finally back to 2006 for a stonkingly great track by Talc, who I once saw described as being a cross between Steely Dan and the Bonzo Dog Doodah Band.
This week’s Desert Island Disc is the exciting number eight track, Suite: Judy Blue Eyes by Crosby, Stills and Nash.
See ya!
