Good day everyone and welcome to my weekly music shuffle.
Yes, it’s time for my music device to select 10 random songs from my collection and for me to tell you what it’s chosen.
I really hope you join me in clicking on the title and listening to the music just in case you find something you like, especially a new discovery. Just click on the song title to enjoy the ‘fun’.
Let’s rock!
- So You Want To Be A Rock And Roll Star by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Excellent cover of the Byrds classic.
- I’m Into Something Good by Herman’s Hermits. Back to 1964 for this fine cover of the Gerry Goffin and Carole King tune.
- 50/50 by Stephen Stills. The 1980s was undoubtedly the worst decade for music and this, from Stephen’s 1984 long player Right By You, shows it was his worst decade, too. Dreadful 80s drum sound. Even Jimmy Page on some tracks, including this one, can’t save it.
- Home At Last by Steely Dan. Simply magnificent from 1977’s Aja, still the best album of all time.
- From The Hands Of Violeta by James Dean Bradfield. The Manics’ man Bradfield’s 2020 LP Even In Exile, about Chilean activist, singer and poet Víctor Jara, is a career highlight in my book.
- Shine On You Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd. Speaking of career highlights, this isn’t far off when it comes to Pink Floyd. 50 years old, from Wish You Were Here.
- I Don’t Wanna Lose, Lose, You by ZZ Top. Classic ZZ Top from 2012’s Rick Rubin produced La Futura.
- Party by Boston. A pretty average track by one of my favourite rock bands. This is on their album Don’t Look Back released in 1978 and probably the weakest track on it.
- Little Bit More by Sammy Hagar. Bang average track from Sammy’s bang average – at best – 2000 album Ten 13.
- The Less I Know The Better by Tame Impala. Saved by Kevin Parker and the great Tame Impala. This beauty from 2015’s Currents.
This week’s Desert Island Disc is, obviously, Home At Last by Steely Dan.
Have a happy Easter and may your God go with you.
Have a good week till next week.
