The Friday Music Shuffle (5/11/21)

by Rick Johansen

Remember, remember, it’s Friday 5th November and what else to do but set my musical device free to create a random shuffle of my music for you to enjoy/endure. And if you want to sing along – and I’m sure you will – just click on the song title.

So, without further ado, let’s rock!

  1. Love So Right by The Bee Gees. Bazza Gibb in top castrato form from 1976’s Children of the World long player.
  2. I’ve Made Up My Mind To Give Myself To You by Bob Dylan. Stellar return to form by his Royal Bobness from 2020’s Rough And Rowdy Ways.
  3. Armagideon Time by The Clash. From 1999’s Live: From Here To Eternity, here the boys are joined by Mikey Dread.
  4. Tearing The Arches Down by The Leisure Society. Some quality indie rock from 2013’s Alone Aboard The Ark.
  5. Thank God For Girls by Weezer. Hear, hear. Cracking tune from 2016’s Weezer album with a totally bonkers video.
  6. The Man In The Station by John Martyn. From 1973’s (!!!) brilliant Solid Air. Man was a genius.
  7. Kept Woman by Fleet Foxes. Robin Pecknold sure writes some lovely songs and few better than this from 2017’s Crack Up.
  8. Doing It For The Money by Foster The People. Mark Foster and his people have a great ear for a tune, not least this one from 2017’s Sacred Hearts.
  9. I Looked Away by Derek and the Dominos. Long before Eric Clapton was an anti-vaxx loon, he made one truly great album, Layla and other Assorted Love Songs. This was on it.
  10. God Said by Todd Rundgren. My favourite of Todd’s albums, 2004’s Liars is essential. This song is in my Top 10 tunes by anyone ever and explains why there isn’t a God.

That’s all, folks!
