Welcome to the Friday Music Shuffle. 10 tunes chosen by my portable computer (phone) completely at random from my collection.
And if that’s not exciting enough, you can click on the song title and sing along.
So, let’s rock!
- St Elmo’s Fire by Brian Eno. No, not that St Elmo’s Fire but Eno’s one, from 1975’s Another Green World and featuring Robert Fripp on guitar. Lovely.
- Mobius by A Tribe Called Quest feat. Consequence and Busta Rhymes. Unmistakably Busta on this track from 2016’s We Got It From Here…Thank You 4 Your Service.
- Ordinary Average Guy (live) by Joe Walsh and Glenn Frey. Joe teams up with fellow Eagle Glenn Frey for a live version of his solo tune.
- If You Don’t Know Me By Now by Simply Red. Whatever you think of Simply Mick, the boy can sing. And here he proves it with this fine cover of Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes’ 1972 classic.
- Peace Of Mind by Neil Young. Back to 1975 again for this lovely song from Comes A Time.
- Why Don’t You & I by Santana feat. Chad Kroeger. Very good from Santana’s 2002 LP Shaman. Lead vocals on this one by Nickelback growler Mr Kroeger.
- To The Last Whale. a) Critical Mass b) Wind On The Water by Crosby and Nash. The lyrics of Nash are so powerful, all about the last whale. Read them here while you listen.
- Flat Broke Love by Bachman Turner Overdrive. Great track from my favourite BTO record. Turn the volume up to maximum.
- Ain’t Nobody by Rufus & Chaka Khan. We go back to 1983 for this belter from the brilliant Ms Khan and the band.
- Celebration by PFM. Premiata Forneria Marconi from – have a guess! – with this cracker from 1973. Today’s ear worm?
Today’s Desert Island Disc from the above would be the Crosby and Nash song at number 7. Beautiful song.
That’s all, folks!
If you like what I do please support me on Ko-fi. Thank you.
