Sunshine greetings to you all and welcome to the last music shuffle of the winter of 2025/26.
As ever, my music device selects ten songs from my collection and I tell you what it’s chosen. I hope you will play along in real time and click on the song titles. Why, you might even find something you like!
Let’s go.
- Oh Father by Madonna. Sheer greatness, in my view, from Madge’s all-time great album Like A Prayer.
- Going Down (Live in Studio-Take 1) by Sammy Hagar Feat. Neal Schon, Michael Anthony, Chad Smith. A banger from 2013’s Sammy Hagar & Friends.
- Prioritise Pleasure by Self Esteem. Brilliant. The title track of her 2021 LP.
- Child Of Innocence by Kansas. Back to 1975 (!) for this proggy rocker from their excellent LP, Masque.
- If There’s One Thing You Should Know by The Go! Team. Brighton’s finest with a lovely tune from 2018’s SEMICIRCLE.
- Spikee by Underworld. 12 and a half glorious minutes of Underworld from 1993. Fan-bloody-tastic
- Chinatown by Shack. The genius that is Michael Head wrote this beauty for 2003’s sublime …Here’s Tom with the Weather.
- Tu Amor (Double Drop Luke É Soul Re-Edit) by Mamacita Feat. Persona RS, Luke Una, Luke Solomon. According to the internet, so it must be true, this track is described as ‘Electronic, House, Cosmic, Underground Club.’ Whatever. But it’s sensational.
- Push Up Ya Lighter by The Roots. Great joint from one of my favourite albums, 1996’s Illadelph Halflife.
- End of the Empire I-IV by Arcade Fire. I really love this track from 2022’s We.
This week’s Desert Island Disc, from what I consider to be a strong shuffle, is Tu Amor (Double Drop Luke É Soul Re-Edit) by Mamacita, Persona RS, Luke Una, Luke Solomon.
See you next spring. Have a good week till next week.
