And it’s a big welcome home to me after a relaxing, not to mention expensive, few days at Center Parcs near Milton Keynes. I’m sure you haven’t missed my daily blogs so I’ll announce my comeback to cyberspace via my weekly music shuffle.
10 songs chosen at random from my portable telephone device and I tell you what they are. And if you want to sing along – and who wouldn’t? – just click on the title.
So, without further ado, let’s rock!
- Girls and Boys by Blur. A perfect pop song from 1994’s Parklike. Following the herd down to Greece on holiday? Yes, please.
- One by The Bee Gees. Back to 1989 for what is probably my favourite Gibb brothers tune.
- Peacekeeper by Fleetwood Mac. A Lindsey Buckingham belter from 2003’s Say You Will long player. Great to hear Lindsey and Stevie Nicks singing together.
- Animus by Mike Oldfield. Lesser known Oldfield from 2007’s Music Of The Spheres.
- Crippled Inside by John Lennon. From Lennon’s brilliant Imagine LP, released in 1971 which of course was rock’s greatest year. George Harrison plays on this one.
- California Dreamin’ by The Mamas and Papas. Classic tune from 1965.
- Golden Platitudes by The Manic Street Preachers. From 2010’s Postcards From A Young Man, it’s obviously great.
- Rock And Roll Doctor by Little Feat. Classic Feat with Lowell George at the top of his powers. Taken from 1974’s Feats Don’t Fail Me Now.
- Endless Bummer by Weezer. This one’s from the band’s excellent 2016 ‘white’ album.
- God Only Knows by The Beach Boys. Perfection.
This week’s Desert Island Disc is the number ten, obvs.
That’s all, folks!
