Good afternoon to my loyal reader as I unveil this week’s music shuffle, that highly unexciting non-event to cloud even the brightest day. Yes, my musical device selects 10 random tunes and I tell you what they are. And if that wasn’t unexciting enough, just click on the song title to sing along. Does life get any better? Yes.
Anyway, without further ado, let’s rock!
- Let It Happen by Tame Impala. Gorgeous psychedelic rock from the brilliant Kevin Parker, from 2015’s Currents.
- The Bartender and The Thief by The Stereophonics. Cracking tune from 1999’s excellent Performance and Cocktails. Kelly Jones has one of the great rock voices IMHO.
- I Am Somebody by Santana feat Will.I.Am. Nice collaboration from Santana’s 2005 All That I Am long player.
- For Violet by Arlo Parks. Well, it’s lovely, from last year’s Collapsed in Sunbeams. Essential.
- Turn That Heartbeat Over Again by Steely Dan. All killer, no filler on Steely Dan’s 1972 debut album, Can’t Buy A Thrill, the best debut album by anyone, ever. Want proof? You’ve got it right here.
- It Was You by Lindsey Buckingham. Typically brilliant from the Fleetwood Mac man, from 2006’s Under The Skin.
- John My Beloved by Sufjan Stevens. Everyone should own 2015’s Carrie and Lowell. Rarely does a week go by when I don’t play it.
- So Easy by Röyksopp. Another everyone should own album, Melody A.M., from 2001, by Norway’s finest.
- Centerfield by John Fogerty. Post Creedence Clearwater Revival genius from the great John Fogerty. The baseball anthem.
- The Balance of Things by Thom Yorke. Short and sweet from 2018’s Suspiria. Incredible record.
That’s all, folks!
