Hell freezes over!

A shockwave of Richter scale none struck greater Bristol yesterday as the village veterans recorded their first ever victory with a stunning 4-2 victory over the admittedly woeful Wickwar.

In only the third game of the season the grizzled warriors find themselves at the heady heights of mid table following a creditable draw last time out.

After a comprehensive spanking in the opening fixture where the lads lost by a mere 7 goals to 2 the management team have steadied the ship and importantly managed to get a few subs to ease the burden on the creaking limbs.

Goalscorers for the villagers were the evergreen Mickey Airs who moaned a side footer into the net from six yards, the portly firefighter who tripped on his laces and collided with the ball outwitting the keeper for number two.

Then it was the Ben Bennett show as the token youngster roared to the top of the scoring charts with a brace taking him to 3 for the season and in pole position for the golden hoof. In fairness it should have been a hat trick but when put through found himself on the wrong foot so ran around the ball like Dill the dog then punted it hopelessly wide.

Stinky turner, who was replaced at half time by Bennett after missing a hatful of chances is now taking time out to reflect on how unfair football can be.

A mention also for Big Martin who put in a terrific shift so man of the match goes to Ben Bennett.
