Thirds thump Lawrence Weston 5-0

by Rick Johansen

To the disappointment of the players who wanted to spend the day in the pub, the poor weather abated for just long enough to see the Village 3rd XI defeat Lawrence Weston 5-0.

The team was boosted by the absence of ‘Dirty Nigel’ who was, just for a change, on the lash, this time in Portsmouth on a four day bender. Keiran Hawkins scored the opening goal followed by Nathan Daniels (2) and Callum.

The big shock was a goal for Calum ‘Call Me May’ Meaney who lashed in an unstoppable volley from 25 yards/ scored with a simple tap in (delete where appropriate).

Meaney continues his decline from occasional first team player to third team regular and surely the lower reaches of the Downs League next awaits the gangling giant.
