Heroic A team defeats 8 man Brandon Sports

by Rick Johansen

In a titanic encounter at the field, Boris’s A team came back from a 3-0 deficit to defeat eight man Brandon Sports 4-3.

Brandon started a man down but even though most biased neutral would have thought it was Gifford who were playing with ten men given their lumpen performance. (In fact, with Bennett on the right side of midfield they also effectively only had ten men too.)

With player of the year elect Stinky Turner AWOL, Boris elected to go with a back three and by half time his decision had backfired disastrously with the team 2-0 down.

The manager rang the changes at half time and on came Calum ‘Call Me May’ Meaney at centre forward.

Meaney made an immediate impact as the team went 3-0 down.

With time beginning to run out, Nathan Daniels calmly scored what most people assumed was a consolation goal to make it 3-1.

Semple, another substitute, tapped in from two inches to make it 3-2.

With the visitors on their knees, Phil Giles let fly from at least 35 yards and the ball sailed into the top corner for a dramatic equaliser.

Injuries and being pissed off had taken their toll on the visitors and, down to eight men deep into injury time, Semple tapped in a dramatic winner.

So the season ends on a high note for the Village.

Can the first team take it even higher tomorrow night at Cossham Street against hated local rivals Little Stoke?

Man of the match – Calum Meaney.
