That Friday Music Shuffle (26/10/18)

by Rick Johansen

Once again, it’s time for the most exciting blog piece thing of the week but only if you are me, and the odds are that you are not me. Still, let’s not worry about that. Instead, I am once more in my Man Cave on this Friday morning and the iPod has been readied to play some random tunes, which for no obvious reason I am going to share with you.

Welc0me back my friends to the show that never ends!

  1. Abcdario by Fonseca. Apparently, this fine Columbian’s music is known as Tropic Fusion. I have no idea what that means but he songs some lush tunes. This from his Illusion record.
  2. What It Is by Mark Knopfler. No guilty pleasure being a huge fan of Mr Knopfler, especially with a tune as great as this gem from the Sailing to Philadelphia long player.
  3. It Probably Always Will by the Ozark Mountain Daredevils. One of my favourite virtually unknown bands of all time. Some lush southern country rock.
  4. Law Dogs by the Doobie Brothers. Bluesy rock from their most recent record World Gone Crazy.
  5. She’s A Devil by Bachman Turner Overdrive. Typical high quality rock from the Canadian heavyweights’ album Four Wheel Drive.
  6. The Morning Is Waiting by Field Music. Absolutely beautiful tune from the magnificent Commontime album.
  7. Happy People by JD73. This is described as R&B/soul. Mint music.
  8. Lose Yourself to Dance by Daft Punk ft Pharrell Williams. From the truly great Random Access Memories album, this gem also includes the great Nile Rodgers on guitar and Nathan East on bass.
  9. International Date Line by Ducktails. Matt Mondanile’s brilliant band from their The Flower Lane record. So good.
  10. May by Jordan Rakei. From his essential Wallflower album.

That’s all, folks!
