The official Friday Music Shuffle (30/6)

As opposed to yesterday’s unofficial random iPod jukebox, this is the official Friday version, live from my Man Cave in the village.

Welcome my friends to the show that never ends.

1. Angel by Simply Red. Well, it’s Simply Mick, really. Just because he is rich and famous doesn’t mean he’s crap and I happen to think he is a great singer, as well as an all-round decent chap who supports Labour and isn’t a tax dodger.

2. Dubai Blues by Chickenfoot. This one comes from their second album Chickenfoot III, geddit? Sammy Hagar, Joe Satriani, Michael Anthony and Chad Smith is not the worst rock band, is it?

3. You Don’t Know by 702. The now defunct Motown girlie band with some classy R&B, here.

4. We’ve Only Just begun by the Carpenters. This little beauty is a mere 47 years old and just goes to prove that class is permanent. Can I just add that the Wrecking Crew’s Hal Blaine plays drums on this one?

5. Make it All Okay by REM. From Around the Sun. Not great, but better than no REM, which is what we have now.

6. Girl by T Rex. A little acoustic gem from Electric Warrior.

7. Alley Oop (Party!) by the Beach Boys. Some fluff from the Beach Boys Party LP.

8. After the Gold Rush by Neil Young. Perfect.

9. You’re the Only Woman (You and I) by Ambrosia. Some lush harmonies from US soft rockers Ambrosia, who once featured Bruce Hornsby and Shem Von Schroeck in their line up.

10. Heartache in Blue by ZZ Top. Top notch rocking’ blues from the Rev Billy F Gibbons and friends in this track from La Futura.

That’s all, folks!
