The Friday Music Shuffle (29.5.20)

by Rick Johansen

Morning all. It’s time for a fun-packed music shuffle. Ten tunes my musical device picks at random and I tell you what they are.  It’s that simple. So without further ado, let’s rock:

  1. Learning To Fall by Chickenfoot. Powerful slow rocker from Sammy Hagar’s supergroup.
  2. Earth Song by Michael Jackson. Another great track from Thriller.
  3. Chicago by Groove Armada. Lush electronica from the London duo.
  4. Rockin’ All Over The World by Status Quo. Decent cover version of the John Fogerty classic.
  5. Thought I Was A Spaceman by Blur. From their stunning return to top form album The Magic Whip in 2015.
  6. Suite For 20G by James Taylor. I would say Taylor has made three truly great albums. This song comes from one of them, 1970’s Sweet Baby James.
  7. Sittin’ By The Pool by Rick Derringer. From his Live at the Whisky A Go Go album, here’s one of the top guitar players in action. Superb.
  8. Salmon Falls By Harry Nilsson. Harry on top form from his 1975 long player Duit on Mon Dei.
  9. Theme From Cabin Weirdos by Joe Vitale. Gorgeous instrumental form the insanely talented Mr Vitale from his stellar Plantation Harbour album. Buy this record.
  10. Like I Loved You by Caribou. And finally, a track from Caribou AKA Daniel Snaith’s 2020 record Suddenly.

That’s all, folks!
