“Hello, hello, it’s good to be back,” as a former pop star once admirably put it, before he popped into PC World at Cribbs Causeway. Anyway, it’s time for my weekly music shuffle.
Every week, my music device selects ten random songs from my collection and I tell you what it’s chosen. Then, you have a golden opportunity to click on the title, listen along with me and singalong. I hope that makes sense. Anyway, let’s hit the play button. I hope you find something you like.
- Da Camino A La Vereda by Buena Vista Social Club. Back to 1997 for some Cuban magic.
- I’m Gonna Be (500 miles) by The Proclaimers. Well, it’s mint. Taken from 1988’s Sunshine On Leith.
- Miniature by Super Furry Animals. 40 seconds of beauty from 2001’s Rings Around The World.
- So Lonely by The Police. Some impressive castrato vocals from Sting on this joint from 1979’s Outlandos d’Amour long player.
- Singing Winds, Crying Beasts by Santana. 1970 now and a great track from Carlos’s finest album, Abraxas.
- Come And Get It by Badfinger. Arguably, the greatest band never to have made it, this is a great Paul McCartney track, first released in 1969.
- Shirl’s Ghost by Michael Head. Speaking of great talents who never quite made it, here’s a beauty from Liverpool’s Michael Head from his 2024 album Loophole.
- Synchronicity 1 by The Police. You have no Police tracks on the shuffle for years and … this from 1983’s Synchronicity.
- We’ve Landed by Tony Allen and Hugh Masekela. Two afrobeat greats here on a joint from their brilliant 2020 album Rejoice.
- Beauty In Your Eyes by Deep Forest. And finally, a cracker from 2002’s excellent Music Detected. They were an incredible duo.
This week’s Desert Island Disc is … drum roll … Come And Get It by Badfinger.
Have a good week till next week, which will of course be the first shuffle of winter.
