The Friday Music Shuffle (26.7.24)

by Rick Johansen

G’day everyone and welcome to the Friday Music Shuffle.

Yes, it’s that unexciting time of the week when my music device selects ten random tunes from my collection and I tell you what it’s chosen.

Why not click on the title to listen and, if you so wish, sing along?

I hope you find something you like.

  1. See What You Get by Groove Armada. Marvellous. From 2007’s Soundboy Rock.
  2. Tush by Z Z Top. A great joint from 1975’s Fandango! LP
  3. Quinton’s On The Way (skit) by Pharcyde. Back to 1992 for some old skool Hop Hop from The Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde.
  4. A Thousand Lifetimes by Glen Campbell. From Glen’s 2011 Ghost On The Canvas album and while it’s no Wichita Lineman, it’s okay.
  5. Hard To Beat by Hard-Fi. What a great rock tune from their 2005 album Stars of CCTV.
  6. It’s Too Late, He Wins by Gordon Lightfoot. And now we go back to 1961 and a track from Gord’s debut album Presenting Gordon Lightfoot.
  7. Karma Police by Radiohead. Simply magnificent from 1997’s OK Computer. ‘This is what you get when you mess with us’. Well said, Thom.
  8. Whenever You’re Ready by James Taylor. Lovely tune from 2022’s October Road.
  9. Living Proof by Bruce Springsteen. Bit of filler here from the Boss and his 1992 album Lucky Town.
  10. All Our Yesterdays by The Small Faces. Nice bit of whimsy from the band’s 1967 LP Small Faces, sung by Ronnie Lane.

This week’s Desert Island Disc is obviously the number seven tune Karma Police by Radiohead.

See you next time. Have a good week till next week.
